A Torch light, a handy tool is now present in many devices like a phone or a pen. Have you ever wondered, how one can be made? That was the challenge for Grade 8 Raksters, ‘Make a torch light using things around your home’ and of course explain how it works! When they got into the task of making, they knew how a circuit worked but to make a torch they had to use and modify for a suitable design. Many interesting objects were used for the body and reflector of the torch. There was even a surprise when one of them tried a modified model where instead of a switch he used a turn mechanism to switch on and off the torch! His inspiration - the laser light toy. It was truly an enriching experience for all. It is befitting to say that "Science aims to reduce complexity to simplicity". This learning experience has given the learners confidence and critical eye to take projects, break them into executable tasks and communicate their learning.
